To the Editor:
Scotty from Mott’s here. As some of you may know, Mott’s in Oak Bluffs is closed due to a water pipe that burst above us. We were flooded, and had to gut the place out. This occurred after we had been closed for a few weeks in order to renovate our kitchen. The pipe burst just as we finished and we were preparing to reopen.
I just wanted to say — and as corny as this may sound, it’s true — I’m so very, very sorry we were not open for all our customers this winter. It actually does bother my spirit and soul that we were not able to be open this whole time; it’s sad. But we will rebuild. We will reopen again.
Right now it is all tied up in the incredibly maddening world of insurance companies. If I had any hair to pull out, I would have done so by now. As I type this, we truly have no idea when we shall be able to open. Really, no clue — end of May? June? But we are trying, and will absolutely open as soon as it is possible.
I consider Mott’s to actually be a form of public service, and we were not able to be open to help everyone start and get through their days these past few months; I am so very sorry for that. Please remember, though, our Vineyard Haven Mott’s is still rocking it, and you can find some help there.
Oak Bluffs Mott’s will reopen, so hang in there y’all, we’re doing all we can as quick as we can. We shall rise like the phoenix. Thanks for your understanding, patience, and patronage.
