The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to undefeated Sharon on Tuesday. It was a close match, with three matches going into three sets. Sharon moved to 16-0 while the Vineyard dropped to 10-2.
Zak Danz defeated Griffin Fien in first singles, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. Fred Bondar defeated Nainoa Cooperrider in second singles, 6-1, 6-1. Andre Olivei defeated Chris Ferry in third singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Alex Romantz and Dan Thirumavain defeated Aksel Cooperrider and Owen Favreau in first doubles, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6). Max Brody and Sam Kirshenbaugh defeated James Kelliher and Spencer Pogue in second doubles, 1-6, 6-3, 0-5 ret. Pogue and Kelliher were leading 5-0 with a score of 30-love in the final set when Kelliher retired with an injury.
The boys next play Bishop Feehan at home on Friday.
