To the Editor:
On behalf of all the herring in the Tiasquam, I would like to thank herring warden Johnny Hoy for his clarity of vision and the guts to stand up for these wonderful fish, and Eric and Molly Glasgow for removing the boards that created the farm pond on the Tiasquam.
As noted in the MVTimes editorial of Nov. 12, “A more natural view,” herring is not the only species celebrating the reborn stream: Other fish, as well as waterfowl and plants, are making a comeback.
Here’s hoping the Tiasquam’s recovery will spur the dismantling of other manmade dams that do more harm than good.
