Tivoli Day was a success

To the Editor:

I want to thank everyone that helped the 39th Tivoli Day to be the most successful ever. Vendors occupied 1,200 feet of space. It is not easy to estimate, but it seemed more people enjoyed the day than ever before. We were blessed by perfect weather.

The late Ed Coogan and Mike Wild, who came up with the idea of an off-season festival, would be very pleased at its success.

The music by the Nashville Hitmakers, Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, and Phil daRosa, who performed and produced the music, along with all the vendors, created a delightful family event.

Thanks go out to the Oak Bluffs Association directors and members who have supported Tivoli Day for many years. I thank our director, Christine Todd, Keith Enos, treasurer, and Renee Balter, vice president, for the time they spent to help me organize the event.

Also, thanks to the Oak Bluffs Police, Richie Combra at the Highway Department, and Mark Crossland Landscape. The Vineyard Gazette, MV Times and WMVY have done a great job helping us to promote the day.

Tivoli was the name of the Tivoli Building that stood where the police station is now, and it was the performance center that our parents enjoyed, back in the old days … yes, Tivoli is also I Lov it spelled backward.

Dennis daRosa, president

Oak Bluffs Association
