Runners tackled the sweltering heat of August and the rolling hills of Chilmark’s Middle Road on Saturday in the annual Chilmark 5K Road Race. Corey Kunz of Hoboken, NJ took first place, crossing the finish line at Beetlebung Corner well ahead of the competition with a time of 17:20. Sheridan Wilbur of North Smithfiel, RI was the first woman to cross the finish, with a time of 18:19, and Michael Schroeder of West Tisbury was the first Islander to finish, with a time of 18:10.
