Spring is in bloom in Edgartown, and to celebrate the season and the arrival of Mother’s Day, the Edgartown Board of Trade is sponsoring “Pink and Green Weekend” this Thursday, May 5 through Sunday, May 8.
Welcome the newest Edgartown art gallery at the Kelley House on Friday, May 6, with an open house from 6 to 8 pm. The gallery of rotating digital photography and prints will feature the works of more than 15 artists. Light refreshments will be served.
Other highlights of the weekend include the Pink and Green Kentucky Derby party, which kicks off at the Harbor View Hotel at 4 pm on Saturday, May 7. Come in your finest hat and pink and green attire and watch the race, snack on appetizers and mint juleps, play lawn games, and more. Tickets are $30 and available at the Harbor View Hotel or online at harbor-view.com.
The Harbor View’s Lighthouse Grille will host Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday, May 8, from 10 am until 2 pm. Buffet offerings include bread and soups, a carving station, an omelette station, pastries, and much more. The cost is $59 per person, $18 for children 12 and under. Rosewater Market and Shirt Tales will present the first annual Run Breast Cancer Out of Town 5K, kicking off at 9 am on Saturday. The race will begin at the corner of Atlantic Drive and Herring Creek Road. The entry fee is $20 with advance registration, or $25 for day-of registration. From 12 to 1 on Saturday, stop by the Mini Park with your pet for a dog show benefiting the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard. There will be an award for best-dressed pink and green pet. Proceeds from treats and a raffle will benefit the animal shelter.
Need a refreshing break? Stop into a number of Edgartown restaurants to sample a Pink and Green cocktail. Guests who try six or more of the specialty drinks will be entered to win a prize.
