To the Editor:
I am writing this letter because I recently received not one, but two, scam calls from someone purporting to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and after me.
As I hung up too quickly, apparently, after the first call, when I came in from a walk later, there was a voicemail message from the caller: “The IRS is filing a suit against you.” Worried that I would not know where to call, the caller left a phone number. Both times I notified the Tisbury police using the nonemergency number (508-696-4240), and they appreciate knowing about this activity. Remember, the IRS does not call you; they may write to you if necessary.
