To the Editor:
If that beautiful and special place at the westernmost tip of the Island is important to you, you are invited to join the Aquinnah community for the second and final visioning session on the future of the land at the head of the Cliffs (the Aquinnah Circle) on Wednesday, March 2, from 7 to 9 pm at the Old Town Hall. With the move of the lighthouse and the designation of a Cultural District, there’s been a lot of discussion about how the town and the Wampanoag tribe can make the many elements there work more cohesively, while maintaining its special character.
This session will finish the visioning process started in early February, and you’ll be able to comment on preliminary materials and schematics prepared by the two talented graduate students from the Conway School of Landscape and Environmental Design. So if you attended before, please come back and finish the visioning, and if you didn’t, there is still an opportunity to give us your opinion. If you can’t attend on March 2, you can give us your thoughts via a short survey, available on the town website. Plus, if you can’t come in the evening or would like some quality time with the students, they’ll be hosting a gallery of their analysis and schematics at the Old Town Hall from 2 to 7 pm.
Your participation will allow us to plan thoughtfully for the years ahead, while protecting and enhancing all we love about this special place.
Peter Temple, chairman
Planning Board
