Celebrating over 10 years of PeaceQuilts’ job development work for women in Haiti, the Celebrity Waiters Dinner fundraiser takes place on Saturday, April 28, at 6 pm in the Parish Hall of the Federated Church in Edgartown.

A star-studded event, the dinner features local celebrities who will assume the personas of their favorite celebrities, devising all sorts of schemes and gambits to earn tips as they serve an all-you-can-eat pasta dinner prepared by Joe Capobianco, Julie Williamson and their culinary staff. A selection of desserts, beverages, wine and a signature cocktail will also be offered. Waiters include Colin Ewing, Donna Rhoades, Anne Osterholm, Bill Veno, Jeanne Ogden, Lisa Brown, Michael Brisson, and Stephanie Danforth. Bob Ogden will emcee, and there will be a special guest appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog.

PeaceQuilts was founded in 2007 by Martha’s Vineyard artist Jeanne Staples, with widespread support from the Island community. The nonprofit assists in the development of independent, self-sustaining sewing cooperatives in Haiti, where women create stunning original art quilts and handsewn products. PeaceQuilts helps market their products in the U.S. and internationally, including at Chilmark Chocolates and, this summer, at World Market Mondays at the Grange Hall.

A silent auction will feature a selection of fabulous donations from many Island businesses. Adults $15, children $10, max $35 per family. For more information, visit haitipeacequilts.org or call 508-274-1104.
