On Thursday, April 19, at 4:30 pm, the West Tisbury library presents an evening of music. Experience Mozart’s world with the acclaimed period instrument ensemble Musicians of the Old Post Road. According to a press release, this concert highlights works by Mozart and some of the many composers with whom he collaborated and socialized. The musicians will also read excerpts from the colorful family letters that chart Mozart’s personal and professional circles. This concert is supported in part by the Martha’s Vineyard Cultural Council. Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

Musicians of the Old Post Road is a chamber ensemble based in the Boston area that specializes in the period-instrument performance of dynamic and diverse music from the Baroque to early Romantic eras. Its repertoire includes compelling “rediscovered” works that have been lost to audiences for centuries. Audiences and critics agree that Old Post Road’s approach to historical performance is fresh and engaging. In 1998, the group was chosen as the recipient of the Noah Greenberg Award from the American Musicological Society. The ensemble has toured North America and Europe, and has seven CD recordings to its credit. Ensemble members performing at the library’s concert include Suzanne Stumpf, flute; Sarah Darling, violin; Marcia Cassidy, viola; Daniel Ryan, cello.
