To the Editor:
What is the vision for Martha’s Vineyard Hospital? Is it to be the largest collector of art by Island artists? Where are the portraits of our medical staff, nursing staff, who provided care and services over the years?
It is important to show our growth and encourage donations to continue to maintain this new facility. A picture of a huge fishing boat at the end of the hall doesn’t speak to healthcare being provided.
What has taken place recently is a tragedy. Mr. Woodin obviously brought qualities the board was looking for. With no word or evaluation on his performance, he is terminated? It appears Mr. Sweet acted independently, and then called a vote. Well, Marina Lent hit the nail on the head with her letter (June 15, “Board’s vision out of step with community”); there is little I can add except there is a lovely oil portrait of the original hospital around the corner in some obscure corridor, instead of behind the reception desk.
