A planning board member has ousted one incumbent in the Oak Bluffs race for selectman.

Brian Packish, who owns a landscaping company, ousted Walter Vail with 825 votes to 527. Incumbent Michael Santoro, a restaurant owner, won reelection with 563 votes.

There were 1217 ballots cast, 32 percent of the town’s 3,767 voters.

In a 627-509 vote, townspeople supported a $9.9 million Proposition 2½ debt exclusion to pay for a new town hall. The new building had already won approval at town meeting Tuesday night.

Two non-binding questions also won support from voters.

A non-binding question that sought to eliminate moped rentals on the Island won overwhelming voter approval by a vote of 982-178.

A regional housing bank, which would begin the process of finding ways to fund all types of housing on the island, including affordable and workforce apartments, was approved by a vote of 801-345.

Organizers were looking for voters to send a message to reaffirm a vote taken more than a decade ago.

In a two-way race for a seat on the board of health, Thomas Zinno defeated Timothy Peters, 560-483.
