A poem about a poem

To the Editor:

I am writing about the letter from the Golubs (March 22, “‘Trumpty Dumpty’”).

Last week two Ph.D.s from their ivory tower,
Submitted a poem to mock those in power.

This poem spewed forth childish names most unkind,
Yet by these words they changed not one single mind.

Within this poem was found no trace of reason or debate,
Because its sole goal was to fan flames of hate.

By their use of such language — not heard by most since first grade —
The authors proved only that for their education they had grossly overpaid.
