The DeBettencourt service station in Oak Bluffs made the switch from Mobil to Shell on Wednesday. In a conversation with The Times on Wednesday, Mike DeBettencourt said his contract with Mobil was up, and he decided to switch to Shell so his customers could use their Stop and Shop reward points.
Erin DeBettencourt announced the news on Facebook on Tuesday, and the post garnered hundreds of likes and plenty of positive feedback. Customers reported being excited to be able to use their Stop and Shop card.
Next time you’re driving down New York Avenue, don’t be confused when you see a shining yellow shell instead of a Mobil sign. You’re still on Martha’s Vineyard.
