To the Editor:
I offer a simple admonition to fellow Islanders: Check your change. I have a small pouch in which I accumulate coin change. When the pouch is full, I take it to the machine in the Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank. The machine usually yields three or four dollar bills and the remainder in change. This time, it made strange noises and yielded nothing. A teller came to my assistance; the problem was that the change was all Brazilian coins. Ergo, worthless here on Martha’s Vineyard. So again, I suggest checking coins given when you shop.
